Lot 141:
Description
12×16 A collection of three vintage-style Coca-Cola lithographed metal advertising signs featuring reproductions of early 20th-century advertisements. The first sign, titled Golfing Couple on the reverse, reproduces a 1926 advertisement by artist Fred Mizen (1888-1964). The image depicts a man and woman in period-correct white golf attire with a golf bag at their feet; the man is pouring a Coca-Cola into a glass held by the seated woman. The reverse of the sign contains printed historical context regarding the advertisement and golfer Bobby Jones. The second sign features a portrait of the Hamilton King Girl from a 1909 advertisement, depicting a young woman in an ornate black hat with white feathers and a red rose. Fine print along the lower edge includes the text Hamilton King 1909 Girl and Printed in U.S.A. 1971-473, identifying the piece as a 1971 reproduction. The third sign features a classic advertising layout with the text Ice Cold Coca-Cola In Bottles Sold Here alongside an image of the iconic contour bottle. The bottle graphic includes the text Trade Mark Registered Bottle Pat d Dec. 25, 1923. The reverse of this sign retains three strips of double-sided adhesive foam from a previous mounting.
