Description
17X8. Handle Repaired. A Chinese porcelain vase of baluster form featuring a flared trumpet mouth and two applied stylized handles on the neck. The exterior is finished with a pale celadon-green ground glaze. The main body is decorated with a landscape scene featuring two deer amidst gnarled pine trees and stylized rockwork, executed in underglaze cobalt blue. The decoration is modeled in slight relief, providing a textured surface against the smooth celadon ground. The scaly bark of the pine trunks and the needle clusters are highlighted by this relief technique. The handles are decorated in underglaze blue with white scrolling motifs. The recessed base is finished in a plain white glaze and is unmarked. [Insert dimensions here if measured].
