Lot 79:
Description
37.5×23.5 This late 19th-century intaglio print, likely a photogravure or mixed-method engraving, is a reproduction of the 1860 painting Highland Raid by Rosa Bonheur. The work is titled in a central banner at the bottom margin as A SCOTTISH RAID. The composition features a densely packed herd of Highland cattle and sheep being driven across a mountainous landscape, flanked by two figures in traditional Highland attire. The print demonstrates fine detail in the rendering of animal textures and atmospheric perspective in the background. A visible plate mark indicates the printing process. The piece is housed in a dark-stained wood frame with carved foliate molding. The verso is enclosed by a three-panel wooden backing held by wire, with the remnants of an original paper dust cover. No further signatures or publisher details are legible in the provided images.
