Description
Plate does not have any markings. This nine-piece collection of American pewter consists of items primarily in the Colonial Revival style from several notable 20th-century makers. The group includes a pair of Gorham candlesticks featuring hexagonal bases and baluster-form stems, marked on the underside with the Gorham eagle touchmark, Pewter, and the model number PH 8. An International Pewter cream pitcher and matching lidded sugar bowl feature tapering cylindrical bodies and scrolled handles; the sugar bowl includes a domed lid with a decorative finial. These pieces are marked with an eagle over International Pewter and model numbers 278 03 and 278 04. A large circular charger or plate with a molded rim is marked on the underside with four pseudo-hallmarks including a letter M, crown, lion rampant, and letter L, alongside a touchmark for Williams. A tapering vessel, likely a small pitcher or mug, retains its original black and silver paper label for Provincetown Pewterlite by F.B. Rogers of Taunton, Massachusetts. The collection further includes a tall, pear-shaped coffee pot on a pedestal foot with a curved spout and heat-insulated C-scroll handle, topped with a domed lid and pointed finial. Two chamber candlesticks complete the set: one featuring a tall candle cup and an integrated conical snuffer on the handle, and the other a lower-profile example with a wide drip pan and a felt-covered base.
