Description
This collection consists of nine antique and primitive kitchen utensils and containers of late 19th to early 20th-century American origin. The group features items constructed from tinned iron, cast iron, and wrought iron. Included is a cylindrical tinned iron canister with a stepped neck, domed lid, and strap handle. A mechanical rotary egg beater features a cast iron frame and gear wheel with wire beaters. A circular tinned metal sieve is fitted with a wire mesh bottom and a turned wooden handle. A large ladle is composed of a deep tinned iron bowl and a long, hollow tubular handle. Baking tools include a circular cookie or pastry cutter with fluted edges and a raised metal handle. A semi-circular wall-mounted box with a scalloped backplate is finished in dark green paint, intended for salt or matches. Small handheld items include an open tinned sheet metal scoop. The lot is completed by two long-handled forks: a two-tine hearth fork of wrought iron construction and a three-tine toasting fork made of heavy-gauge wire with a twisted neck.
