Description

68×77 This handmade, reversible tied quilt features two distinct traditional American folk art patterns. One side displays a large central diamond motif composed of tan hexagonal patches. Each tan hexagon is embellished with hand-embroidered star or floral designs in blue, red, green, and purple, accompanied by outlined leaf shapes. This central section is framed by concentric hexagonal rows of dark navy/black and light gray/off-white fabric. The reverse side features a traditional crazy quilt design constructed from large, irregular patches of fabric in dark tones including navy, purple, forest green, and black, alongside off-white sections. The seams on the crazy quilt side are finished with decorative hand-stitching, such as feather and blanket stitches, in contrasting bright pink, green, and orange threads. The quilt is constructed from hand-sewn fabric patches, appearing to be a mixture of cotton and wool scraps. It is a tied quilt, secured with small knots of orange and green yarn. The front embroidery includes chain-stitched leaf outlines and filled floral motifs. No maker labels or signatures are present.
