Description
A group of three United States two dollar legal tender notes, comprising one Series 1953, one Series 1953 A, and one Series 1963 A. All notes feature the portrait of Thomas Jefferson on the obverse and Monticello on the reverse, printed with black and green ink and featuring distinctive red treasury seals and red serial numbers. The Series 1953 note (Serial A 36713598 A) bears signatures of Ivy Baker Priest and G.M. Humphrey. The Series 1953 A note (Serial A 56002158 A) bears signatures of Ivy Baker Priest and Robert B. Anderson. The Series 1963 A note (Serial A 16471246 A) bears signatures of Kathryn O’Hay Granahan and Henry H. Fowler. Notably, the Series 1963 A note includes the motto IN GOD WE TRUST on the reverse above Monticello, which is absent from the earlier 1953 series notes in this lot.
