Description
This set consists of two pieces of vintage utility enamelware: a cylindrical chamber pot with a fitted lid and a deep wash basin. Each piece is constructed of stamped metal, likely steel, coated in a white vitreous enamel with a thin red band detail along the rims. The lidded vessel, also referred to as a utility pail, is equipped with a wire bail handle featuring a red-painted turned wooden grip, while the lid is topped with a red-painted metal loop handle. The basin features a wide, flared rim. This style of enamelware was common in American domestic life during the early to mid-20th century. No maker’s marks or factory stamps are present on the exterior, interior, or underside of either item.
