Description
This commemorative framed assembly is titled The American Indian and contains a collection of US numismatic and philatelic items. The display features a group of US Indian Head one-cent coins struck in bronze, mounted to show the obverse design type. Visible dates on the coins include 1891, 1901, 1902, 1905, and 1906. The philatelic components include several US postage stamps: a 1-cent Marquette on the Mississippi (Trans-Mississippi Exposition Issue, 1898), a 3-cent Five Civilized Tribes Indian Centennial (1948), a 3-cent Lewis and Clark Expedition 150th Anniversary (1954), a 3-cent Devils Tower National Monument 50th Anniversary (1956), and a 4-cent Frederic Remington Artist of the West (1961). The items are mounted on a purple textured background featuring printed historical information regarding the coins and stamps. The entire set is housed in a stained wood frame under glass with a saw-tooth hanger on the reverse.
