Description
10.5 inches. A pair of vintage Dietz Vesta railroad lanterns manufactured for the New York Central (NYC) Lines. The lanterns feature steel frames with heavy-gauge wire guards and top-mounted bail handles. The top horizontal rim of each frame is embossed with the text NEW YORK CENTRAL. The top chimney caps are embossed with the maker mark DIETZ VESTA NEW YORK U.S.A. Each lantern contains a short clear glass globe. One side of the globes is embossed with DIETZ within an oval, VESTA, and NEW YORK U.S.A. The opposite side of the globes is etched with NYC LINES. One unit retains a significant portion of an aged yellow painted finish, while the other unit displays a dark rusted patina. Both lanterns include their internal oil font and wick-adjusting hardware.
