Description
A collection of vintage Rolling Stone magazines in the original tabloid newsprint format, primarily featuring interviews and cover stories regarding John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The collection includes Issue No. 22, dated November 23, 1968, which features the nude back-view photography from the Two Virgins album cover and is priced at thirty-five cents. Also included are the two-part John Lennon interview issues from early 1971: Part One, titled The Working Class Hero (January 21, 1971), and Part Two, titled Life With The Lions (masthead date of February 4, 1970, though contextually part of the 1971 series). The 1971 covers feature photography by Annie Leibovitz, while internal pages of the 1968 issue include photography credited to Ethan Russell. The January 1971 issue includes a red ink distribution stamp stating the paper was for vending machine sale and a heavy black marker cancellation. All issues were published by Straight Arrow Publishers, Inc. in San Francisco.
