Description
This collection features multiple vintage and commemorative metal still banks, primarily representing promotional and souvenir items related to Ohio institutions and history. The first bank is a National Cash Register (NCR) commemorative miniature, modeled after a vintage cash register with a copper-tone finish. The front features Amount Purchased in relief. The rear displays the NCR logo above a U, with the text Est. April 21, 1937 and the base marked First Edition, 1982. The sides are decorated with ornate scrollwork and a central medallion marked National. A coin slot is located on the top. The second item is a bronze-tone metal bank depicting a covered wagon on a grassy base. An applied blue plaque on the base reads 1805 Canton Sesquicentennial 1955 and The Peoples Bank. The coin slot is located on the top of the wagon cover. The third item is an oversized cast metal replica of an 1877 Indian Head penny with a bronze-tone finish. The obverse depicts a Native American profile with United States of America and the date 1877. The reverse shows the denomination One Cent within an oak wreath and shield. The coin slot is situated on the top edge. The fourth item is a gold-tone metal mouse head bank with red cabochon eyes. The removable base plate is printed in red with The Commercial and Savings Bank and locations Millersburg – Ohio and Walnut Creek – Ohio. The coin slot is located on the back of the head. The fifth item is a brass-tone metal rearing horse on a base. A relief plaque on the base reads Marion, O. The item features a two-piece construction held by a single flathead screw on the side. The coin slot is located on the horse’s back.
