Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 75A:
Description
72 x 82 This is an unfinished mid-20th century quilt top featuring hand-appliqued floral motifs in a Dresden Plate style. The quilt top consists of multiple white cotton squares, each featuring a central multi-petal flower. The petals are constructed from various vintage cotton scraps, including calicos, floral prints, checks, and solids characteristic of the 1930s and 1940s feedsack era. These blocks are joined together with yellow sashing that features a printed red and green rosebud and floral motif. The reverse side of the textile shows visible hand-stitching used to secure the appliques to the base squares. A large piece of blue cotton fabric is attached along one side, likely intended as a border or backing material.
