Description
68 x 94 A mid-20th century American hand-stitched applique quilt featuring a Pansy floral design. The quilt displays alternating rows of yellow and purple pansy motifs, each accompanied by three green leaves, set against a cream-colored cotton ground. The centers of the pansies are detailed with hand-embroidered stamens in black and yellow-gold thread. The piece is hand-quilted with a diagonal diamond grid across the field and echo quilting surrounding the appliqued elements. It is finished with a narrow green inner border and a purple fabric binding. The reverse of the quilt is a solid lavender cotton fabric. The quilt bears a stamped mark reading TYLER in black ink on a corner of the purple backing.
