Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 57:
Description
72 x 72 This hand-stitched American cotton quilt features a Steeplechase pattern, which is a specialized variation of the traditional Drunkard’s Path design. The piece is constructed using a two-tone color scheme of light blue chambray-style cotton and off-white cotton fabric. The central field is composed of hand-appliqued interlocking curved blocks set into a repeating geometric grid. This patterned center is framed by a wide off-white inner border and a narrower light blue outer border. The quilt is finished with dense, hand-stitched diagonal diamond grid quilting across the entire surface, visible on both the front and the off-white reverse. The construction includes hand-sewn seams and a hand-applied perimeter binding.
