Description
This lot consists of two separate pieces of textile approx 2yds each, featuring designs inspired by mid-century modern aesthetics. Both pieces are constructed from a heavy textured fabric characteristic of barkcloth, frequently used for upholstery or drapery. The first piece features a pale yellow ground with an atomic era abstract print consisting of black molecular line-and-dot motifs, sun-like bursts, wireframe pod shapes, crescent moons, and organic forms in black, olive green, slate grey, and terracotta. The selvage of this fabric is clearly marked with the signature Chris Stone CALIFORNIA followed by a copyright symbol and the date 2001. A numbered color key from 1 to 7 is also present on the edge. The second piece has an off-white ground decorated with a repeating vertical pattern of stylized pink weeping flowers, teal rectangular blocks, and brown geometric elements.
