Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 470:
Sold for: $50
Description
This lot contains one curtain and one small fabric remnant featuring a bold, large-scale tropical botanical print. The textile is a heavy, textured weave characteristic of mid-20th century barkcloth, typically manufactured from cotton or a cotton-rayon blend. The pattern consists of stylized jagged leaves in lime green and yellow tones, sweeping curved leaves in deep magenta and maroon, and soft grey palm fronds, all set against an off-white or cream-colored ground. This style of Hawaiian-themed botanical print was popularized during the 1930s and 1940s for interior applications such as drapery and upholstery. Similar designs are often attributed to manufacturers like Markwood Fabrics. Both pieces exhibit raw, unfinished, and frayed edges.
