Description
36 x 54 An antique American hand-pieced and hand-quilted cotton quilt featuring a variation of the Puzzle Box geometric pattern. The quilt is composed of six large medallions in blue cotton set against an off-white ground. Each medallion is constructed from triangular patches arranged in a complex stylized pattern. The central design is enclosed by a blue inner border and a wider off-white outer border, finished with a narrow blue binding. The elaborate hand-quilting includes a diagonal diamond grid within the patterned blocks and an overlapping circular or shell motif across the negative space. The piece is constructed from cotton fabric and batting.
