Description
76 x 94 A vintage hand-pieced quilt top in the Grandmother’s Flower Garden pattern, likely dating to the mid-20th century. The piece is constructed from numerous hexagonal cotton fabric patches in a diverse array of floral, geometric, and novelty prints characteristic of the Depression era and feed sack textiles. Each floral motif is composed of six patterned petal hexagons surrounding a solid yellow hexagonal center, joined together with white-ground patterned connector hexagons. A solid yellow fabric border is attached along portions of the perimeter. This item is an unfinished quilt top, lacking batting, backing, and quilting stitches.
