Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 306:
Description
68 x 82 This vintage American scrap quilt features a combination of hand-pieced construction techniques and hand-quilting. The design is eclectic, incorporating several traditional pinwheel or star blocks constructed from triangular pieces alongside large, irregular patches in a crazy quilt style and sections of strip-piecing. The materials consist of various mid-20th-century cotton fabrics, including floral calicos, ginghams, stripes, and solids in a multi-colored palette of blue, pink, red, yellow, and lavender. The backing is composed of plain cream-colored cotton fabric. Hand-quilting is visible throughout in simple linear and curved patterns. No maker labels are present; a small white inventory tag with illegible characters is pinned to the upper back.
