Description
64 x 76 This is a vintage American patchwork quilt constructed in a string or scrap style, dating from approximately the mid-20th century. The quilt top is pieced from a diverse array of cotton and cotton-blend fabrics, including gingham, plaid, floral, striped, and abstract patterns in a multi-colored palette of blue, red, pink, green, and yellow. The design is organized into vertical columns separated by strips of green-and-white floral print sashing. The left and right vertical edges are bordered with a brown and white checkered fabric. The piece is hand-quilted throughout using a simple running stitch that creates a textured, grid-like pattern visible on the reverse side. The reverse consists of multiple panels of plain off-white or white cotton fabric.
