Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 207:
Description
74 x 80 A vintage hand-stitched applique textile, likely intended as a quilt top or a decorative throw. The piece is constructed from a cream-colored cotton ground featuring a subtle woven check pattern. It is finished with a solid blue border on all four sides. The decorative elements consist of stylized floral motifs in each corner, depicting tulips in orange, yellow, and blue fabrics with green stems and leaves. All floral components are attached to the ground fabric with visible hand-stitching. The design and layout are characteristic of applique patterns from the 1930s, particularly those resembling the work of Marie Webster. The reverse side of the textile clearly shows the hand-stitched construction of the applique work and the border attachment.
