Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 200:
Description
74 x 78 A hand-pieced cotton quilt top featuring a Lone Star or Star of Bethlehem pattern. The central design is a large eight-pointed star composed of concentric diamond-shaped pieces in various cotton fabrics, including solids, stripes, florals, and calicos. One inner round incorporates a mid-century stylized print of pink and green squares with bird and floral motifs. The star is set against a plain white cotton ground. The piece consists of a finished top only and lacks batting, backing, or finished binding. Hand-stitched construction is evident through the visible seam allowances and irregular stitching on the reverse side.
