Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 182:
Description
64 x 80 This vintage American patchwork quilt is constructed from hand-pieced cotton strips in a string quilt pattern, featuring twelve large blocks arranged in a four-by-three grid. Each block contains diagonal strips of varied scrap fabrics, including colorful cotton prints such as polka dots, florals, stripes, and leopard-style spots, interspersed with solid red, white, pink, and blue segments. The blocks are separated by a solid red cotton sashing joined by light blue cornerstone blocks at the intersections. The quilt is finished with functional hand-quilted horizontal lines that run across the entire width of the piece. The reverse consists of a single panel of off-white cotton fabric.
