Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 14:
Description
60 x 70 A vintage American patchwork quilt featuring a variation of a star pattern, likely dating from the mid-20th century. The piece is constructed from a variety of cotton fabrics, including floral, gingham, and geometric prints characteristic of feedsack textiles from the 1930s through the 1950s. The design consists of large blocks, each containing four smaller star motifs set against a white ground. These blocks are separated by solid blue sashing with solid pink cornerstone squares. The entire surface is hand quilted in a simple grid pattern. The reverse side features a solid off-white cotton fabric that displays the hand-stitched grid pattern executed in pink thread.
