Description
This collection consists of eight brass decorative wall plates and chargers, attributed to Peerage and produced in the Dutch Revival style. Each piece is crafted from brass featuring high-relief embossed decoration in the repousse style. The assortment includes two large chargers depicting lush still-life arrangements of fruit including pineapples, grapes, and pears, framed by ornate scrollwork and shell borders. Two medium plates feature genre scenes: one shows a horse-drawn carriage in a village setting, while the other depicts a figure at a spinning wheel in a domestic interior. Both medium plates are finished with gadrooned decorative borders. Four small plates illustrate various scenes including tavern interiors with figures drinking and playing music, coastal landscapes with figures in traditional dress, windmills, and sailing ships. The borders on the smaller plates vary from leaf garlands to intricate scrollwork. No maker’s marks or backstamps are visible on the reverse of these items. One plate features a small green adhesive inventory sticker marked with the number 27.
