Description
This pair of handmade dolls consists of two distinct styles of Black folk art craftsmanship. The first doll features a molded and painted head finished in red with simplified facial features and a dark brown cloth body and limbs. It is dressed in a blue and white paisley-patterned dress with a full skirt finished with a wide lace ruffle at the hem. The outfit includes a matching fabric headwrap accented with a red ribbon and a white lace fichu collar tied with red ribbons. The second doll is of traditional rag doll construction with a black cloth head and limbs. The facial features consist of two small white stitched eyes and a red stitched line for a mouth. It wears a long-sleeved orange dress with a white micro-polka dot pattern, a cream-colored apron featuring a red felt heart appliqu?, and cream pantaloons. Both dolls are supported by white-painted metal stands. Heights: approximately 15 inches and 12 inches.
