Description
An antique maritime signal lantern featuring a clear glass Fresnel lens and a metal body with a dark patina. The unit is designed for bulkhead or wall mounting, characterized by a flat rear panel and a hinged rectangular access door. The construction includes a tiered ventilation chimney with decorative club-shaped cutouts and a circular top ring handle for carrying or suspension. Additional matching ventilation cutouts are located along the lower rear base. An oval manufacturer’s plaque is affixed to the upper shoulder, though the stamped text is worn and not clearly legible. The metal appears to be a copper or brass alloy, typical of marine hardware from the late 19th to early 20th century. Similar examples are frequently associated with American marine equipment manufacturers such as Perko or Wilcox Crittenden.
