Description
This lot consists of a trio of American tools: a boxed wood bit set and two cast iron agricultural wrenches. The first item is a Cleveland No. 13A Wood Bit Set manufactured by The Cleveland Twist Drill Company of Cleveland, Ohio. The set includes nine steel twist drill bits housed in a wooden slide-top box with an orange and yellow lithographed label. The label provides the company address with a single-digit postal zone, Cleveland 14, suggesting a production date between 1943 and 1963. An interior wooden divider is painted yellow and marked with bit sizes 3/8, 5/16, 1/4, 7/32, 3/16, 5/32, 1/8, 3/32, and 1/16 inch. The second item is a Van Brunt multi-purpose farm wrench made of cast iron. It is embossed with the maker name VAN BRUNT and features multiple open-end sizes, a hexagonal cutout, a square cutout, and an integral square lug on the reverse side. The third item is a Planet Jr. skeletonized wrench produced by S.L. Allen and Company. The cast iron handle is embossed with PLANET JR. and marked with the number 3 on the reverse. This tool features one open end and one square-box end.
