Description
This lot features three mid-20th-century American items including two tobacco advertising containers and a professional tool kit. The first item is a lithographed tin for Penn’s Natural Leaf Thin tobacco, manufactured for The American Tobacco Company. The red lid displays a prominent yellow fountain pen nib graphic with the text Penn’s Spells Quality. Side panels include instructions for a key-wind opening mechanism and list the contents as twelve 30-cent plugs. The back features a guarantee label with a Native American profile logo. The second item is a heavy paper pouch for Ojibwa Dark Fine-Cut tobacco, produced by the Scotten, Dillon Company of Detroit, Michigan. The front includes a blue Tobacco Workers International Union stamp with the signatures of John O’Hare and E. Lewis Evans. The third item is a Nu-Kut Super-Hone professional clipper sharpening kit by Salpac Co. of Collingswood, New Jersey. This kit includes the original cardboard box and a circular gridded metal honing plate. Sharpening plate: 5 inches in diameter.
