Description
This lot features a pair of antique American plunger-style butter molds constructed from lathe-turned hardwood. Each unit consists of a cylindrical sleeve with a flared base and a central plunger featuring a hand-carved decorative stamp. The first mold contains a stamp carved with a six-petaled rosette pattern centered within a circular frame. The second mold features a stylized wheat sheaf motif flanked by vertical scalloped borders. Both sleeves exhibit concentric turning marks and a rich, darkened patina. These items are characteristic of 19th-century domestic kitchenware used for shaping and marking butter.
