Description

This collection consists of nine miniature cast iron advertising items, including promotional skillets and dual-rest ashtrays. These pieces were produced as marketing tools or souvenirs during the mid-to-late 20th century. The group features various embossed designs and inscriptions on the interior bases. Specific items include a 50th Anniversary skillet for Miller True Value Hardware (1972, Lakeland, FL); a United Glass and Ceramic Workers of North America ashtray with a handshake emblem; a Martin Heaters ashtray; and an Empire Coal and Coke skillet with a crown motif. Also included are an International Molders and Allied Workers Union ashtray, a Houston Astrodome souvenir skillet with an atomic-style graphic, and a Roadrunner skillet from Valdosta, Georgia. One piece is explicitly marked on the reverse for the Ohio Stove Company of Portsmouth, Ohio, while one small skillet remains unmarked. These items are characteristic of promotional miniatures produced by American foundries such as Lodge and Ohio Stove Company.
