Description
This collection features three model airplanes, including two advertising promotional items and one military scale model. The first item is a Lockheed P-38 Lightning scale model constructed of plastic. It is mounted on a black plastic display stand marked with P38 LIGHTNING and SCALE 1:40. The aircraft features a twin-boom design with three-blade propellers and underwing rocket armaments. The fuselage and wings are decorated with United States Army Air Force Star and Bar insignia and black and white invasion stripes. The tail boom is marked with the number 060641. The second item is a promotional model of a Douglas DC-3 representing Atlas Tires. It is of die-cast metal and plastic construction and rests on a white curved stand marked DC3. The fuselage features the text ATLAS TIRES BATTERIES ACCESSORIES and a red stripe. The tail is marked with the registration NC37734, the word ATLAS oriented vertically, and a SOHIO logo inside a winged oval. The wings also bear the registration NC37734. The third item is a promotional advertising coin bank in the form of a racing airplane. The die-cast metal body features a red and black color scheme with gold-tone arrow accents. Markings include True Value HARDWARE, DC-2740, and No. 2. A coin slot is located on the upper fuselage behind the cockpit. It features a three-blade propeller and fixed landing gear.
