Description
21x13x65. This mid-century professional workstation was manufactured by the Palco Mfg. Co. of Belvidere, Illinois. The one-piece unit is constructed with a light-toned hardwood veneer, likely birch or maple, and features a tall integral backboard. Mounted to the center of the backboard is a vertical fluorescent light fixture encased in a stepped chrome-plated metal housing. The workspace consists of a flat, dark composite laminate countertop with raised side rails. Storage configuration includes a single upper drawer with a central key lock and a streamlined chrome-plated pull handle. Below the drawer is a small cupboard door with a square glass window that reveals an internal mechanical apparatus. The left side of the upper section contains an open-shelf storage compartment. The lower portion of the cabinet features a large door opening to a deep, metal-lined tilt-out bin, traditionally utilized for soiled linens or waste. The cabinet is finished with matching chrome-plated handles and rests on a recessed plinth base. A maker label is affixed to the backboard rail reading PALCO MFG. CO. Belvidere, Ill.
