Lot 554:
Description
This is a finished large-scale display model of the 1929 Dornier Do X flying boat, attributed to Scalecraft based on visually identical specimens. The model is finished in a silver-toned Luft Hansa livery featuring the registration D-1929. It is constructed from a painted composite or resin material. The aircraft is depicted with its signature high-wing monoplane configuration, including twelve propellers arranged in six tandem push-pull engine nacelles along the top of the wing. The fuselage sides are marked with DO-X on the upper deck, LUFT HANSA on the midsection, and DORNIER near the bow. The upper wing surfaces and the tail display the registration D-1929 in red. The model incorporates the characteristic Dornier sponsons on the lower fuselage for water stability. It is mounted on a curved black pedestal stand with a triangular base. The base includes a brass-toned metal plaque with the incised text: "Dornier Do-X".
