Description

This collection consists of Lionel prewar Standard Gauge model train components manufactured in the mid-to-late 1930s. The set is led by a Lionel No. 385E steam locomotive in a gunmetal gray finish. The locomotive features a die-cast boiler, a 2-4-2 wheel arrangement, and is decorated with brass and copper piping and trim. The front number board is marked 385E, and the cab side features a red keystone logo containing the letter L. It is accompanied by a matching gunmetal gray tinplate tender marked The Lionel Railway Lines on brass side plates. The rolling stock includes a No. 517 caboose with an orange body, maroon roof, and peacock green base; a No. 512 gondola car in peacock green; and a No. 514 refrigerator car featuring a white body and a blue roof. Also included is a dark green flatcar equipped with eight metal stakes. The freight cars are constructed of painted tinplate with brass identification plates, brass brake wheels, and nickel-plated trucks and wheels. All pieces utilize standard Lionel hook-and-loop style couplers.
