Lot 539:
Description
This three-panel folding vanity mirror is constructed with a cast brass frame featuring ornate Neo-Rococo scrollwork and pierced borders. The central rectangular panel is surmounted by a decorative finial depicting a cherub bust surrounded by foliate scrolls. Each of the three beveled mirror panels is set within a floral-embossed inner frame. The reverse sides of the two side panels are decorated with botanical chromolithographs; one depicts red clover with bumblebees, and the other shows a branch of ripening blackberries. The reverse of the center panel is finished in a fleur-de-lis patterned paper and is equipped with a metal hanging chain for wall mounting. The piece stands on four integral scrolled feet. A heavily damaged and illegible diamond-shaped paper label is present on the lower center of the reverse.
