Description
This lot consists of five framed photographs depicting various subjects from early 20th-century American football history. The collection includes a full-length portrait of Jim Thorpe in a Carlisle Indian Industrial School uniform with a printed facsimile signature; a photograph of a player in a Chicago jersey with distinctive striped socks, consistent with the appearance of Harold Red Grange, standing with an official; a 1911 team photograph of the South High First Football Squad with an attached identification slip listing players including Joe Flynn and Paul Nixon; a team photograph for the Hibernian 14 Club with an identification slip featuring names such as Bob Kling and Ed Turk Gillespie; and a candid photograph in an oval mat showing a player and an official holding a helmet.
