Lot 527:
Description
This lot consists of a framed, commemorative black-and-white photographic print and personnel roster for Company I, 8th Battalion, 2nd Regiment, of the Army Service Forces Training Center (Ordnance). The composition features three distinct photographic elements: a wide-format panoramic group portrait of the entire company at the top, a smaller group photograph depicting a platoon in front of a wooden barracks building on the lower left, and a portrait of three commissioned officers on the lower right. The center of the document contains printed text identifying the unit and the commanding personnel: 1st Lt. John R. Altemose (Commanding), 2nd Lt. Lowell D. Watkins, 2nd Lt. John E. Dea, and 1st Sgt. Robert A. Negrucci. Flanking the central text is a numerical roster listing approximately 200 personnel by last name and initials. A unit guidon or pennant is visible in the center of the primary photograph, displaying the Army Service Forces insignia, which consists of a blue five-pointed star within a white circle on a red background. The print is professionally mounted with a navy blue mat and housed in a gilt-finished wooden frame behind glass.
