Description
This antique wooden jointer plane, also known as a trying plane, is a classic hand tool designed for straightening and smoothing the edges of long boards. The tool is constructed from a solid block of polished hardwood, likely beech or birch, and features a traditional closed-tote handle integrated into the top of the body. The cutting assembly includes a steel iron and a matching chip breaker, both of which are secured in the throat by a tapered wooden wedge. No maker marks or manufacturer stamps are visible on the toe of the plane or the exposed portions of the iron in the provided images. A white paper tag with the handwritten alphanumeric code 495 B is attached to the handle. Estimated length: 22 to 24 inches.
