Lot 440:
North American XB-70 Valkyrie Display Model
Sold for: $80
Description
Attributed to SQ Wings, this desktop display model represents the North American XB-70 Valkyrie, a prototype supersonic strategic bomber. The model is constructed of painted resin or wood with a semi-gloss white finish, typical of mahogany wing style collectibles. It features United States Air Force (USAF) markings, including black block lettering on the upper right wing and star-and-bars insignias on the upper left wing and fuselage sides. The vertical stabilizers are detailed with yellow NASA bands and the serial number 20001, identifying the craft as the first prototype. Technical details include a black-painted nose cone and anti-glare panel, six dark-colored exhaust nozzles at the rear, and hand-painted panel line details on the wings and canards. The model is supported by a curved, dark wood-finish stand. The base of the stand features two lines of white printed text that reads NORTH AMERICAN XB-70.
