Lot 366:
Description
This standing jewelry armoire is designed in a traditional Queen Anne revival style, crafted from oak and oak veneers. The piece features a flip-top lid that opens to reveal an inset mirror and a compartmented storage area lined with rose-pink felt, including integrated ring rolls. Below the top compartment are five stacked drawers equipped with decorative round metal pulls featuring a rosette motif and an antiqued bronze-tone finish. The drawers utilize modern construction methods (stapled or glued) rather than traditional dovetail joinery. Flanking the drawers are two side-hinged doors that swing outward to provide access to vertical necklace storage with multiple brass-toned hooks. The exterior is detailed with reeded (fluted) corner pilasters and a matching reeded frieze across the upper front. The entire chest is supported by four classic cabriole legs. This item is visually consistent with the Model 436-2 jewelry armoire produced by Powell.
