Description
Bell is 12 inches at flared bottom 25 in tall. This item is an antique steam locomotive bell of the type historically used on railroad engines. The bell is constructed of cast brass or bronze and is mounted within a heavy, black-painted cast-iron yoke and stand. It features a manual operating lever on one side used to swing the bell. An articulated internal iron clapper is suspended from the top interior by a chain link. The entire assembly is secured to a circular, dark-stained wooden base for display. The bell has a traditional flared shape with a rounded crown topped by a decorative finial. No manufacturer marks, patent dates, or serial numbers were identified during inspection. Bell diameter: approximately 10 to 12 inches.
