Description
An antique centrifugal cream separator manufactured by The De Laval Separator Co. of New York. This Junior No. 2 model features a heavy cast iron base and housing with a black painted finish. The assembly includes a large tinned or galvanized metal supply bowl situated atop the unit, two integrated discharge spouts for cream and skimmed milk, and a manual crank arm with a wooden grip. The crank arm is embossed with the part number EC5402. Identification is confirmed by several markings: a red and gold-tone riveted nameplate on the front reading JUNIOR No. 2, THE DE LAVAL SEPARATOR CO. NEW YORK, MADE IN U.S.A.; gold-tone transfer lettering on the side of the housing stating DE LAVAL JUNIOR; and a stylized decorative graphic on the rear of the housing.
