Description
This vintage toy aircraft is a model of the Lockheed Sirius monoplane, attributed to the Metalcraft Corporation of St. Louis, Missouri. The toy is constructed from pressed steel with a painted finish consisting of a green fuselage and red wings and horizontal stabilizers. It features a friction-driven motor integrated between the streamlined wheel spats. A rectangular gold-toned decal on the side of the fuselage is printed with the text LOCKHEED SIRIUS. The aircraft is equipped with a silver-toned engine cowling, a metal two-blade propeller, and two rubber wheels. This model represents the aircraft type made famous by aviators such as Charles Lindbergh during the 1930s.
