Description
A collection comprising formal evening bags spanning the late 19th century through the Art Deco period. The group includes a large black plush velvet bag featuring dimensional floral embroidery worked in gold-tone bugle beads and iridescent clear sequins, finished with a silver-tone kiss-lock frame and a black seed-bead rope handle. Also present is an Art Deco enameled metal mesh bag decorated with a graphic black and white geometric pattern and a silver-tone frame with enameled inlays, possibly by Whiting and Davis or Mandalian. The assortment further features a cream-colored beaded bag with a flared, scalloped base and a central sunburst motif in gold-tone bugle beads, as well as a small white beaded coin purse with a silver-tone geometric diamond design. Each piece utilizes a metal frame with various kiss-lock or ball-clasp closures and includes either a chain or beaded handle.
