Description
A pair of antique cast iron waffle iron paddles manufactured by the Griswold Manufacturing Company of Erie, Pennsylvania. The set comprises two distinct paddles that function as a hinged unit. One paddle is marked American No 8 at the top with the Griswold cross logo in the center. It is further inscribed along the bottom edge with The Griswold Mfg. Co., Erie PA. U.S.A., and a patent date of Pat’d Dec. 1. 1908. The pattern number 314 is cast into the iron near the handle junction. The second paddle is marked No 8 at the top with Puritan in the center and the same patent date of Pat’d Dec. 1. 1908 at the bottom. Both paddles feature a ball hinge mechanism and are equipped with coiled wire cool handle grips designed to dissipate heat. This lot consists of the paddles only and does not include the corresponding stove base frame.
