Description
This lot consists of two distinct hardcover volumes. The first is Wild Flowers by Homer D. House, a botanical study bound in dark, ornate blind-stamped cloth with a gilt-stamped title block on the front cover. The interior includes descriptive text and illustrations, including color plates such as Plate 160 depicting Sheep Laurel (Kalmia angustifolia) and Crosswort (Lysimachia quadrifolia), and monochrome figures such as Figure VIII showing the Large Round-leaved Orchis (Lysias orbiculata). The second volume is A Christmas Box of Pretty Stories, an illustrated children’s anthology from the late 19th or early 20th century. The volume features a red cloth binding with a large color-lithographed pictorial overlay on the front cover. Internal sections include The Book of Christmas and Winter-Time, Eva and Wilfred, and The Book of Dicky-Birds, with specific entries for The Stork and an illustration of Kitty Wren Singing in an Apple Tree.
