Description

This is twenty-eight Native American lithic artifacts, primarily consisting of projectile points and bifaces. The group is presented within a glass-fronted display case with a red fabric lining. According to a handwritten label in the upper left corner, the collection originated in Ohio. The assembly includes a variety of prehistoric stone tool types such as side-notched, corner-notched, stemmed, and triangular projectile points, as well as scrapers and larger bifacial blades. These items represent several cultural periods in the Ohio River Valley region, likely spanning from the Archaic through the Woodland periods. The artifacts are manufactured from various regional lithic materials, including dark Upper Mercer-style flint and lighter, mottled chert characteristic of the Flint Ridge region. Each piece exhibits traditional flintknapping techniques, including percussion and pressure flaking. Some specimens show evidence of prehistoric use-wear and resharpening, with visible natural patination and mineral deposits consistent with long-term burial.
