Description
This early 20th-century advertising pocket mirror was produced as a promotional item for Hires Rootbeer. The oval-shaped piece consists of a celluloid-covered metal front and an inset glass mirror on the reverse. The obverse features a color lithograph of a young woman with voluminous reddish-blonde hair adorned with a single pink rose, styled in a manner consistent with the early 1900s. She is depicted holding a large bouquet of pink roses against a mottled green background. The image is framed by a gold-toned dotted border. A decorative scroll-work banner at the bottom contains the printed text: PUT ROSES IN YOUR CHEEKS DRINK Hires Rootbeer. The brand name Hires is rendered in a stylized script.
